How to connect it
- 1Start the WhatsApp server — npx -y @sjawhar/whatsapp-mcp in a terminal, or press Connect here.
- 2Watch the terminal: on first run it prints a QR code (the MCP channel stays clean because the QR goes to stderr).
- 3On your phone open WhatsApp → Settings → Linked devices → Link a device and scan the QR.
- 4The server reports Authenticated as <your name> on success. It remembers the session, so later starts need no QR.
- 5The session lives in the folder you start it from: auth_info/ holds the login, data/ the SQLite copy of your chats. Back up auth_info/ to skip the QR next time, and delete it to force a fresh scan.
- 6To send a file it has to sit in uploads/ (ALLOWED_SEND_DIR) — the server refuses paths outside it. Sending, deleting a message and deleting a chat each ask for confirmation before they act.
